Music at Immanuel

Music is an expression of our faith, our community, and our lives. It inspires and renews us.  Our service is filled with hymns and spiritual songs, with choir, congregation, organ, piano, handbells, and other instruments. Our choir and congregation sing much of the liturgy drawing from a rich and varied repertoire of musical settings. Hymns come primarily from The Hymnal 1982, as well as Wonder, Love and Praise, Lift Every Voice and Sing, and other liturgical resources. The congregation worships fully, participating musically in all areas of the service, supported by our choir. The Immanuel Parish Choir is a liturgical choir which sings to support and enhance the worship of our faith community. The Parish Choir includes adult volunteers and four Choral Scholars (university vocal majors). Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. from September to early June. The choir leads worship and prepares psalms, motets, and anthems for each Sunday morning, as well for Evensongs, holy days, and Advent Lessons and Carols. Within our community we also have instrumental musical talent. Sunday morning musicians enhance worship with guitar, flute, and other instruments. The Highlands Chamber Players meet together to play beautiful music that they share in concerts and other events through the year.
